Wednesday's Walk Down Memory Lane.....

I've wanted to join in on 'Wednesday's Walk Down Memory Lane ' so here ya go.

I can remember the day I had my first child quite vividly. I was woken up at 3:30am to the wonderful feeling that something just wasn't right. I wasn't sure what that was but a quick chat with my mother-in-law soon convinced me that I was in labor, plus it was the 7th. My father-in-law had predicted from the very start of my pregnancy that I would deliver my baby on the 7th. You see my husbands birthday is on the 7th, and we were married on the 7th, so it should follow suit that our first child would be born on the 7th. And he did not disappoint.

As this was my first delivery we wanted to be sure to keep the contractions going, so anytime that they started to slow down we would start to walk. I believe that we had to of walked quite a few miles that day. On one walk we were wandering through the park in town, at 5:00am in the morning, and came across a brand new little Tonka truck. This made us sure that our baby was going to be a boy! WhooooHoooooo! You see this was a time in the distant past when ultrasounds were not given during each pregnancy and the majority of new parents had no idea what gender their new baby was going to be. Although I had always had a feeling that I would only have boys the Tonka truck confirmed my feelings.

Moving on with our day, we eventually took a ride the 3 short blocks to the hospital. We wandered up to the 4th floor, that would be labor and delivery, and was quickly given a bed in which to twist and turn and moan and groan in pain. Again, here we are in the distant past and no one even mentioned an Epidural. What?! you say. No Epidural?! And yes I will say it again, I had no clue, I mean no clue what an epidural was, and no one even offered. I didn't even know what one was 4 years later when I had my second child, but that's a completely different story. So here I am, hurting like you would not believe and my poor husband is just holding my hand, being such the good husband as I crush all life out of said hand. Seriously, I didn't even know about breathing to help you through the pain. I just tensed up and made it so much worse. I just have to laugh. Boy was I uninformed and naive.

Finally it's 3:00pm in the afternoon and it's time to push, yes push! Yeah. I push and I push, still with no pain medication at all, and by 3:40pm the doctor is doing an Episiotomy, at which point my husband, midMan, has to step out for moment to regain his balance and his stomach. At 3:48pm, on June 7th, our first born entered into this world with a wonderful head full of black hair, I was terrified to have a bald baby, and yes midMan made it back in time to watch the wonderful happenings. I know, of all thing to worry about, that should have been the last thing, but as I said I was naive! What can I say. He weighed in at 7lbs 14oz and 19 inches long.

I was able to head home in less than 24 hours. We had even managed to pay the complete bill, hospital $448 and doctor $500, before we even went to the hospital. The cost makes it seem like such a long time ago, but seriously it was only 25 years ago and the total bill was $948, it was more than double that 4 years later. We had no insurance and we had no idea what medicaid was. We just did what we had to do.

We have watched him grow into a really amazing young man. And we are so very very proud of him and his accomplishments. (I wish I was more organized and I would have had a picture for you all to see, but you can see him if you go back about 4 postings.)

Love to All,

I Got My Fix!

Yeah!!!! I finally got my camping fix. To bad it wasn't long enough or quite as warm as we would have liked. Don't get me wrong it wasn't to cold but we did have to run the heater in the trailer and the tent at night. The one thing I have to say about camping is that it is so peaceful. I love to get away from all the noise of everyday life and sit back and enjoy what God has given us. I would spend my life sitting up in the mountains just taking in the beauty and peace of this world. Nothing can top that. Except for maybe my midMan.

Now on to a different point of view when it comes to camping.
ZOE!!!
Miss Zoe is the worlds sweetest little puppy. We have had her for about 12 years and I just can't get enough of her cute little face with it's big brown eyes that will plead with you for that last bite of your food. She is adorable. This camping trip she reminded us that she hates to be left behind by walking way in front of us when we would go for a walk. Every once in a while she would look back to make sure we were following her, especially when we would hit a road, then off she would go on her merry little way. She also decided on this trip to not listen to us. We think she was just paying us back for bringing Bella, midMan's little blind baby, into the picture.

Now the bad. Zoe likes to eat stuff. Any stuff she finds on the ground while camping is open for tasting. Even while taking walks or gathering wood, anything, and I mean anything, she finds looks good to her and is fair game for tasting and eating. This past weekend we will just say she found something so very disgusting that I almost made her sleep in the truck all alone. Eeeeeewwwwwwww!!! I did make her sit through a really good face washing which she definitely did not like but this was so gross. This girl needs some serious modification to her attitude when it comes to food and what tastes good. I just cringe at the thought of what she did even while I look into her big brown eyes and love her still. See, even midMan found it cringe inducing (holding Bella).

The whole family was able to join us which was wonderful. Here's Dayton and Shannel just before they had to leave. As you can tell by the picture Dayton had been up for 24 hours straight and decided he needed to go home and sleep in his own bed. He was beat. But I was so excited and happy to have them both join us.

Dion and Ada also came up for the experience, although Dion has determined that he would much rather camp over by Enterprise, in the heat, than on top of Cedar Mountain, in the cool. In this picture Dion is going for his best James Dean look, to bad tailEnd found his way into the picture.

Ada had a blast with Emery, as you can see. She would have danced with her all night if Emery's mom and dad would have let her.

And here is Emery's mom and dad, Amanda and Johnny. They are Dion and Ada's friends who came to join us on our camping trip. They brought S'More's!, which we were all thankful for, even Ada, who had never had one before and decided that they were just a little bit to sweet. Fun was had by all burning the marshmallows and eating the crispy remains.

I could have gotten some better pictures but I was always busy cooking or just sitting enjoying the peace and quiet or just taking a walk or just riding the 4wheelers and forgetting that yes Rae you do have a camera now. TailEnd also had a blast. And was so excited because he can now ride the 4wheelers by himself without getting into trouble after he took his OHV training course. Let's all join in his little celebration and dance a jig with him. Emery and Ada thought it was fun and exciting, too.

Over all we had a blast and midMan and I would love to go again this weekend, but alas, life interrupts us and makes us take care of all that other mundane stuff like the yard, and the house, and the bills, and the garden, and the kids, and everything else that life likes to throw in our way.

Re-post for a Friend

Hey All,

Below see a post from a great lady. Check out her blog....................she ROCKS!!!!!!

I am still trying to see how things work in this blog world, so please put up with changes and come back and check me out. See if I ever can figure it out on my own without calling my oldest son, DION. I know he is hoping I can do this. He gets a little tired of mom calling a begging for help. But in my mind that's what he gets for being so good with all things computer. I hope to eventually add pictures. Whoooo Hooooo!!!! (added note Middle son helped add the picture of my family below) Anyway, love to all and check back soon.

P.S. Things to Remember.........Quick one tonite. When my boys were younger, and went to bed before I did (old lady world now), I would give them each a kiss after they fell asleep, and whisper in their ear, 'Mama loves you.' If I missed doing this I feared that they would not know how much I love and cherish them. It is still so important to me that as they leave each day, or each time I talk with them on the phone, I have to let them know that I love them. Same for my husband. I know, I know, I am crazy.
But crazy in love with my family.
