Visit With Family

This past Saturday I had the pleasure of driving home to Milford, Ut to visit my mom and dad and my sister, Edie. I didn't get to stay very long but I enjoyed every minute of it. They always make me smile and make me proud to call them my family.

While visiting I got to see my niece Sally's prom dress. She is so excited. This will be her first prom and her first date, or I should say group date. She just is not that into dating. She would much rather be studying, so it is with pleasure that I see her making some different memories to reflect back on. I know she will be so pretty and have the time of her life. My other niece, Erica, Sally's older sister, is going over to do her hair and makeup. As I said Sally is just not that into dating, makeup, or any of the drama that you find with most girls, at least that's what I have been told.

On to my visit with my parents. My mom got out some old pictures of my Little Grandma, that would be my moms mom. Little Grandma is so cute. She was only 4'10" tall. I was so proud of the fact that at 11 years old I was taller than LIttle Grandma. That was one of the major milestones of my life. As we looked at pictures my mom pulled out a copy of an announcement for my Little Grandma's parents 60th wedding anniversary. I was so fascinated as I read through the announcement. I had no idea that part of my family came from France. My Great Grandpa and Great Grandma Foster were originally married in Paris, France. How AWESOME!! They then immigrated to 8 Mile in Idaho, where they raised their family. My Great Grandma's maiden name was Skinner. I love that name. It evokes such a different feeling in me. I can not explain it. I took a copy of that announcement and will treasure it forever.

I so love that when you least expect it you can learn something new. It was such a pleasure spending time with my family. I don't often spend time with just them and myself. If they ever read this I want them to be assured that I love them so much and am so very, very proud to call them my family.

Love To All,

midRae

Things to Remember...........I do not remember when my Great Grandpa Foster died but I do remember when my Great Grandma Foster died, I must have been about 8 years old. It was the first funeral that I can remember. Little Grandma kissed her mom goodbye and I don't know what I thought, I just know that the memory has stuck with me for all of this time. As we drove to the funeral I can also remember Little Grandma telling me to stop biting my nails as I layed in the window of the car behind the back seat going down a two lane road with lots of traffic. (SCARY) I find it amazing that in the past we were more concerned about biting our nails than wether or not we would die in a car wreck. I guess times have changed. We are much more scared now than we were then. I also remember that as we returned home, we pulled up out front and dad was mowing the lawn with a new lawn mower. We were so excited, we thought it was so cool. How easily we were entertained, not so much today!!!

SPRING

I miss SPRING!!!
It snowed again last night AND I decided that I needed an image in my head that reminded me that SPRING is on it's way. I took this picture two weeks ago west of my house. My DTM, husband, and I were trying to sneek up on some deer, apparently we are not to good at that. Never saw the deer but I did get to see that SPRING is close at hand. We just need to hold on. Camping is closer than I thought. YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!
Love Ya!!!!

PS....Things to remember...............Camping has always been a great joy to our family. From the time we first married to this day we have always loved the peace and solitude of the mountains. We took all three of our boys camping before they were 6 months old. We love the time that we get to spend together and the many hikes were we find treasures. The last time we were all able to go we managed to call a herd of cows into our camp. Our little dog ZOE decided that she would chase them away. No such luck on her part, they took no notice of her. But was that a blast!!! Camping......as close to Heaven as we can get as a family on Earth.

Re-post for a Friend

Hey All,

Below see a post from a great lady. Check out her blog....................she ROCKS!!!!!!

I am still trying to see how things work in this blog world, so please put up with changes and come back and check me out. See if I ever can figure it out on my own without calling my oldest son, DION. I know he is hoping I can do this. He gets a little tired of mom calling a begging for help. But in my mind that's what he gets for being so good with all things computer. I hope to eventually add pictures. Whoooo Hooooo!!!! (added note Middle son helped add the picture of my family below) Anyway, love to all and check back soon.

P.S. Things to Remember.........Quick one tonite. When my boys were younger, and went to bed before I did (old lady world now), I would give them each a kiss after they fell asleep, and whisper in their ear, 'Mama loves you.' If I missed doing this I feared that they would not know how much I love and cherish them. It is still so important to me that as they leave each day, or each time I talk with them on the phone, I have to let them know that I love them. Same for my husband. I know, I know, I am crazy.
But crazy in love with my family.

Meet midRae

Here I am. Can you believe it. It's me, midRae.

My name is actually Rae Munk. I am a MIDdle child, I am in MID-life and I'm still looking for that third MID. If you all think of anything I would love to hear it.

I love to workout, read anything, cook, crochet, take photos, hiking, camping, riding 4-wheelers, spending time with my family, Survivor, and The Amazing Race.

I have the most wonderful HUSBAND in the world. He indulges me, sometimes. We have been married for 25 1/2 years and we are still very much in love. We have 3 wonderful boys, ages 24, 21, and 13. They are so awesome.

To me my life is not the most exciting, but I thought that this would be a wonderful way for my kids and my grandkids, someday, to see who I really am. So my idea is to let you all know what is happening now and to share something from my past. I hope you all enjoy.

Love always,

midRae

P.S. Something to remember.........My 50 year old mattress. It was my parents for ever and then it came to me. We used it for camping out under the stars in the mountains, in the dirt. I would never consider going camping without my old mattress. I made my husband pack it along on a few moves and that wonderful old mattress finally made it to my bed. Oh how I loved that mattress. I loved to snuggle right down into is old warm wornout stuffing. I tried not to look to closely at it's covering for it was so ragged and stained. I treasured all those wonderful nights slept on that old mattress but my poor husband was unable to agree with me. We finally got a new bedroom set about 2 years ago. Happy and sad am I. My then 11 year old son got the mattress. He loved it too, for about 1 month. Then he was begging for a better mattress and a better bed. I'll tell ya about the bed some other time. I was sad the day we finally took my old mattress to the trash, but i do have some great and wonderful memories that will always include my old mattress.
